A survey extending beyond its headline
Shabnam Kohanchi’s article surveys fiction about the Iran–Iraq war. Although its headline refers to eleven novels, the Rabihavi passage discusses a long story, a short story and a linked collection. The guide preserves those literary distinctions rather than using the headline to recategorise every work it mentions. Source 1
Kohanchi describes the thirteen-year-old boy searching for his brother in When the Smoke of War Was Seen in the Sky of the Village, then mentions Out in the Plain Along the Way and the five linked stories of Memoirs of a Soldier. She values their attention to the effect of war on ordinary lives and identifies the soldier’s limited literacy and lack of partisan certainty as part of the collection’s perspective. Source 1
Her account also recalls recognition by the Children’s Book Council. That claim belongs to the article; the separate selected-book record retains the bibliography’s precise labels. The surviving Ketab News page credits Etemad as the source of this contribution. Source 1
