The work

Original language: Persian

Baang’s career profile describes five stories about Abadan refinery workers. The collection places working lives at the beginning of Rabihavi’s published fiction. Iran Archive preserves a book record dated winter 1358; its date is kept in the original calendar rather than reduced to a single Gregorian year.

Iran Archive identifies the work, author and winter date. The original scan’s title page supplies Damoon, Tehran and 1358. Its following colophon instead names Heights of Fire, also the first story’s heading; the discrepancy is preserved and no edition number or separate standalone book is inferred from it. The scan contains five individually headed stories. No ISBN or precise printing day is established.

Reading the editions

Damoon · Tehran · 1358

Five stories behind the collection’s title.

The scanned volume contains five individually headed stories. The sequence below was checked across every scanned page, including the final A Commemorative Photograph. Its heading carries a dedication to the author’s brother Hamid; its narrative follows refinery workers and the photograph they hope to make together.

These are Latin transliterations of the printed Persian headings. The locators identify PDF pages: the volume’s printed numbering differs, so they are not interchangeable. Heights of Fire is the first story and also the title unexpectedly printed in the colophon. That overlap helps describe the discrepancy, but does not establish a separate standalone book or settle the collection’s edition number.

Printed imprint · PDF page 2 prints Central Workshop, Ghazi Rabihavi, Damoon, Tehran, 1358. Page 3 names Heights of Fire, with first edition winter 58; Heights of Fire is also the first story heading on page 4. This colophon discrepancy cannot establish the collection’s edition number or winter date. The five story headings occur on PDF pages 4, 15, 25, 37 and 45. The last story, A Commemorative Photograph, occupies PDF pages 45–54 and is dedicated to the author’s brother Hamid. PDF and printed page numbers differ; printed pages 49 and 52 are PDF pages 47 and 50. The online Border Workshop label differs from the printed title. Pages 1 and 55 supply covers. All 55 pages visually reviewed for headings, 4 October 2026; only selected passages close-read.
