Removed from the place of belonging

Noushazar’s introduction follows people who have lost work, home and familiar surroundings to war. In his reading of From This Place, the new city brings humiliation and estrangement alongside physical shelter. The collection’s title becomes a way to ask where the integrity of a life can be found. The Wound gives him a scene in which an unemployed father depends on his daughter’s earnings while resentment and inherited authority threaten her. Noushazar follows how kindness and dependence disturb that intended violence. He sees the characters’ conflict as revealing several layers of their situation. Source 1

A social world arranged as a scene

The Flowerpot and In the Plain along the Way extend the discussion toward marriage, accommodation and families fleeing Abadan. Noushazar values the precision of place, cinematic images and the way Rabihavi brings people into dramatic confrontation, sometimes with an uneasy sense of humour. Source 1

His argument emphasises survival rather than reassuring moral resolution. The piece is a critical programme introduction dated September 2006. Its printed biographical details are not used here to settle disputed dates; the guide follows the interpretation of the collection and keeps its edition history separate. Source 1
