Iranian Four Seasons

Chahar Fasl-e Irani · Chahār faṣl-i Īrānī · The Iranian Four Seasons

English parallel cover title recorded by Harvard for the Persian collection.

The work

Original language: Persian

A Persian short-story collection with a long route to publication. Rabihavi recalls that permission was refused and only a few stories appeared in periodicals. Harvard records a first-edition-labelled Nidā book in 1374, with an uncertain London imprint and the English cover title Iranian Four Seasons. A later Italian book shares the title; its contents relationship has not been established.

Naakojaa names Pendaar and states second printing in 2024, but labels the item a play where the publisher describes its collection as short stories. No inspected contents or colophon resolves that discrepancy. The retail SKU 9781912647163 is not a verified ISBN. This dated listing is separate from the publisher’s undated collection; physical and textual identity remains unestablished.

Reading the editions

London · Pendaar · 2019 catalogue record

A dated publication beside the undated listing.

Library Hub’s retained institutional catalogue results record a printed paperback, Iranian Four Seasons, Pendaar, London, 2019, ISBN 9781912647071. One record credits “various translators”; a separate holding calls it a new edition. This publication now has its own qualified catalogue entry alongside the other named printings.

The retained extract does not state the book’s text language, name those translators or list its contents. Its English catalogue title does not establish an English translation, and its distinct ISBN does not prove the relationship to Pendaar’s undated Persian collection. The physical imprint and complete contents would resolve those questions.

Pendaar · a retail printing statement

A 2024 listing and the evidence it supplies.

Naakojaa’s retained product page describes a Pendaar second printing in 2024 and displays SKU 9781912647163. The retailer’s statement is useful publication context beside Pendaar’s own undated catalogue entry.

A product SKU is kept as a product field. Without the actual imprint, ISBN statement and complete contents, this listing does not identify a verified separate edition or settle its relationship with the Nidā and Goethe & Hafis collections.

Musicaos names these stories in its description of Le quattro stagioni iraniane. This is a publisher-named selection, in the order of that description, rather than a checked complete contents page.

Benedetta Pati is credited with editing and translation from English. The publisher does not identify a particular English source collection or the Persian source edition. The Italian book therefore keeps its own publication record beside the earlier collection.

Goethe & Hafis · Persian · 2023

Twenty in the subtitle.

The German National Library’s full record identifies a Persian first edition from Goethe & Hafis in Bonn, dated 2023, ISBN 9783949715310. Its German parallel title carries the subtitle Zwanzig Kurzgeschichten: twenty short stories.

A subtitle and a contents page provide different kinds of evidence. The record supplies the former, while Harvard supplies nine actual contents entries for the earlier Nidā book. The two editions remain distinct until their volumes can be compared.
